Attend has a feature that helps identify students on the path to chronic absenteeism after the first 60 days of school. This feature will help you intervene before patterns take hold. You can:
- Quickly spot students who need additional support to improve attendance
- Identify high-risk students, even if no interventions have generated
This feature flags students after the 60th day of instruction, creating a list to monitor throughout the school year. You can use this list to keep an eye on students, and provide additional support when needed.
Overview Screen
A tile will appear on the overview screen with a count of flagged students.
Each of these numbers links to a filtered list on the Students list page:
- Student Flagged: Students flagged after 60 days of instruction. These students are flagged once at the beginning of the year to create a list of students to monitor throughout the year
- Improving: Students that are flagged by our early warning insights feature, that have shown improvement in absences since the last production run.
- Chronic: Students that are flagged by our early warning insights feature, that are already chronically absent
- Not Chronic: Students that are flagged by our early warning insights feature, that are not yet chronically absent, or those who have improved attendance enough to move out of the chronically absent category
Early Warning Insights Icon
The following icons will be visible on list pages throughout the Attend application:
This icon indicates that a student has been flagged but has not missed enough school to classify as chronically absent.
This icon indicates that a student is chronically absent.
Note: This icon is used as the chronic absenteeism flag throughout Attend, regardless of whether or not the student was flagged by the early warning insights feature. Please use the link on the overview page, or the filter ‘Students Flagged for Early Warning Insights’ to view the original list of flagged students.
Filter
A filter has been added to the ‘Students’ List page to select the students who were flagged for early warning insights. This filter can be used in conjunction with other filters on the students list page.
Student Details Page
You can see additional information about students that were flagged, on their individual student page.
You will still see the chronic icon listed below the general student information section. Additionally, the profile will display the early warning insights icon, below the student trend section.
This is another location that will help you quickly and easily identify the students included in the early warning insights list.
